Jonathan Myers | Personal Scribblings

What am I all about then?

Well I’m soon going to hit 40, and that’s ok with me as I’m more comfortable with who I am now than ever before. I think aging is easier for men, but I guess I’ll never know.

I’ve been living in Manchester for quite a few years. I like it here, but won’t be sad when the time comes to move on. It offers plenty, it’s a bit wet, but where we are is quite green and it’s easy to get to the centre, or away.

Access to the motorways is important to me as I travel quite a lot by car and train and occasionally flying.

The things I like, and so what I’m likely to write about include eating out, cars, holidays, but I spend more time dreaming about holidays than actually going away.

I read lots – modern English and American literature, some Japanese, and when I’m feeling strong I’ll tackle a Russian classic.

I love both film and live bands, but I don’t go to either as often as I’d like to. I’m also pretty obsessed by design.

And work? I have a small business as a customer service consultant – and I often rant when I get good or bad service, and actually indifferent too. In fact indifferent is probably the worst as it’s hard to complain about, even though it winds you up. I’m sure I’ll soon write about the experience of changing electricity supplier – watch this space.

To sum me up I guess I’m pretty much a normal kind of Joe, but I like to think of myself as a bit different – just like all the kids who think they’re so alternative, even though they all look the same to us adults!
